A stepping stone to seafaring.
The theoretical training will take you one weekend, reserve one morning for the theory exam.
And the mandatory internship on a ship lasts a maximum of one week.
Your stepping stone to seafaring. The so-called “big C” is a captain’s license that entitles you to steer a boat up to 16 meters long. And honestly, the vast majority of boats you’ll encounter around the world are no longer than these sixteen meters. It doesn’t matter if it’s a sailboat, a trawler, or a luxury motor yacht. You can find all the information about the course and the additional costs on site here.
You can sail day and night, as long as the weather is good. With a “C” you are allowed to go to sea in wind force 6 degrees Bf. That is, up to a wind speed of almost 50 km/h. You will soon realize that in such wind you will not even want to leave the marina.
With this license you can sail up to 20 nautical miles from the coastline, i.e. the line connecting all islands and islets. 20 nautical miles is almost 40 km and that is enough distance for many years of fun at sea anywhere in the world.
The certificate is valid for 10 years. To extend it, you just need to prove that you have sailed at least 500 nautical miles in the last ten years before the expiry date. That is, just to give you an idea, two to three weeks of fun at sea.
Price does not include
Transport + food - crew provides for captain
Port fees - will be specified at the meeting with the instructor before departure.
Dates:
We train every month and if the dates do not suit you, please contact us at kapitani@seawolf.cz. We publish dates regularly and tailor-made courses can be arranged.

As a licensed sailor, you must know the rules and regulations that apply at sea. Similar to roads, the sea is not a landless space where ships just wander. That is why in the weekend theoretical course you will learn how to navigate a ship, not only with GPS, how to understand the weather forecast according to a synoptic map, how to avoid collisions with other vessels, you will learn how and why a ship actually sails even when the wind blows against the ship and much more information that a ship's captain must know.
The theory exam is taken before a commission of the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic. We try to take the exam soon after the theoretical preparation, while your knowledge is still fresh. The exam fee is not included in the course price. The dates of the theoretical part of the course are available to you immediately after payment.
The condition for obtaining a captain's license is to complete practical training directly at sea. Similar to a driver's license, you must do "sailing". This part takes place on sailboats from our fleet, which are anchored on the island of Murter. It is a week-long stay, during which you will sail the required one hundred nautical miles under the supervision of a captain (trainer). You will learn how to maneuver the boat, how to control the sails, what the technical facilities of the boat look like, how to behave with the boat in the harbor, and in practice you will experience and verify everything you have learned in the theoretical part. You will live on the boat the entire time. Either with other course participants, or with your friends or family. For them it will be a vacation, for you a vacation with practical training. However, such training combined with a vacation requires a special calculation of the course price. You do not need to worry about the final practical exam itself. The captain will watch you closely throughout the week and will not "let" you off the boat until he is absolutely sure that you can control it.
The certificate is valid for 10 years. To extend it, you just need to prove that you have sailed at least 500 nautical miles in the last five years before the expiry date. That is, to give you an idea, two to three weeks of fun at sea.
Finally, you just need to send an application for a license to the Ministry of Transport.
And now you can start renting boats yourself ☀️ Seawolf is happy to help you broker over ten thousand boats all over the world. From Croatia to the Caribbean, from single-cabin sailboats to fifty-foot catamarans. Call us, we will be happy to help and advise you with the selection of boats.
Your captain's license for MDČR C does not have to end your captain's career. The license for area C can be extended to cover a greater distance from the coastline, or even to an ocean voyage license.
