Inland navigation
The gateway to the world of sailing and yachting.
The skipper's license for sailboats with sails up to 20 m² is suitable for anyone who wants to start sailing. We recommend ordering the course in combination with large engines, i.e. VMP MS20, or even better, as a complete package including coastal sailing at sea, i.e. MCS20.
We train theory every month on the weekend. Individual dates can be arranged by phone. The theoretical course lasts one Sunday afternoon. We will explain how sailboats work, show different types of boats, hulls and sails. We will explain how it is possible for sailboats to sail against the wind, and we will talk about terminology. Practical training is not required for this level.
Sailing is done on rivers, dams and seas. If you want to experience yachting from the beginning, the S20 expansion (i.e. to sailboats up to 20 meters of sail area) is the right start to your sailing career.
The VMP license with extension S20 is valid on all inland waters.
To obtain an extension of the small sails license, it is enough to complete theoretical training and pass the theoretical exam at the Navigation Office. No practical training is required.
Theoretical training takes place regularly on Saturdays and Sundays, at least once a month. We deal with the legislation that applies to inland and maritime navigation. This knowledge is a basic requirement for obtaining a license of all categories.
We offer theory courses both online and in person. Courses take place every month.
There is no need to complete any practical training to extend your VMP license to include small sails.
The exam is taken together with the theoretical exam for obtaining the M or C license. After completing the basic part M, a set of twenty questions on seafaring and twelve questions on sails will follow.
The final theoretical exam is taken at the branches of the Navigation Office in Prague, Děčín and Přerov. Online registration is very simple. You will need a digital copy of the doctor's certificate. The administrative fee of CZK 500 must be paid online by credit card.
The Small Vessel Master's License can be expanded to include many other competencies.
